about

As the title suggests, this piece of music “describes” an attack on a spaceship. It was written to accompany a [made up] film script. The brass and heroic theme in the first phrase represents the spaceship coming into view followed by a more relaxed variation of the same theme to show that the crew have no concerns and everything on board is functioning as it should. Violins are used to represent an alarm, followed by a new theme as a member of the crew goes to investigate. The bass repeats the same pattern throughout this phrase as the others wait in suspense. Some dissonant chords and nice percussion effects form Logic Studio create a lovely scream just before the tempo increases and drums kick in. This battle between the two instruments during this part would play simultaneously with a fight between two characters. Suddenly, the lights go out and emergency lighting turns on. The crew look at each other as they wonder what will happen next. The rest of the piece builds tension with discords and dynamical variation until a climax where we are left with a suspended G Minor Major 7th chord but with no resolution. ;)
